Description of test update 8 for Windows 7.0 Release Candidate (RC)

This article discusses a test update for Windows 7.0 Release Candidate (RC). This update does not fix any technical issues. It is for testing only.

Note This update lets us test and verify our ability to deliver and manage the updating of Windows 7 RC.

Windows 7 RC users will be notified that new updates are available on May 26th, 2009, from Windows Update. These updates do not deliver new features or hotfixes. These test updates replace system files to update only the version numbers of the files.

Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file. A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time.
