Consider the following scenario:
- A software update package is deployed to a System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) client.
- Updates in this package require restarting the computer to complete the installation process. The Suppress program notification option is not selected for these updates.
- When the updates are installed on this client. A notification window that appears reports that the system will be restarted within some time, such as an hour.
- After the updates are installed, but before the computer restarts, another program is deployed to this client. The Suppress program notification option is selected for this update.
In this scenario, the Ccmexec.exe process may consume almost 100 percent of CPU resources on this client. Because of this, all the running applications and services are affected on this client.
Additionally, the following error is repeatedly logged the Execmgr.log file:
Execution Request for package <package name> program UpdateEvaluation state change from Ready to Ready CExecutionRequest::Overriding Service Windows as per policy. Executing program UpdateEval.vbs in Admin context spRebootRequest->JobStart failed 0x80004005
