Symptom



On Windows Server 2008 or Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
  • The following stop error on a server that has the Hyper-V role installed:

    STOP 0x00000050 (0xfffffa8016df9000, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff80001a5b340, 0x0000000000000000).
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

    Note The parameters may vary.
  • Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service (VMMS) may it stop running unexpectedly due to Heap memory corruption.

Cause

This issue can occur if a Hyper-V virtual machine is configured with a SCSI controller but no disks are attached.

Resolution

To prevent this issue from occurring, edit the virtual machines and remove any SCSI controllers which do not have disks attached.
