Terminal Server (TS) Web Access may display unreadable text in certain localized versions of Windows Server 2008

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Windows Server 2008 has an optional feature that is called Terminal Server (TS) Web Access. This feature lets users connect to a Web site to start Terminal Server connections. This Web site has a banner on the top of the Web page that says "TS Web Access." In some languages, the text is wrapped, and the end of the text overwrites the start of the text. This problem is known to occur in the Hungarian and Polish versions of Windows Server 2008.

Cause

This issue occurs because the localized strings are longer than the configured space for the original text.

Workaround

To work around this issue, reduce the font size for the text so that it fits correctly. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Windows Explorer, and then locate the Tswa.css file in the following directory:
    Windows\Web\ts\language\
Note language is a placeholder for the language version of the operating system.
  2. Use Notepad to open the file Tswa.css, and then locate the "TSBanner" section.
  3. In the "TSBanner" section, locate "font-size : 43px;".
  4. Change the 43 to 30, and then save the Tswa.css file.
  5. Close Notepad.
