FIX: The wspsrv process in ISA Server 2006 randomly crashes and an Application Error event is logged

Symptoms

When you are running Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006, the wspsrv process randomly crashes. Additionally, the following event is logged to the Application log:

Date:                     x/yy/zzzz

Computer:             <computername>
Description:
The Firewall service stopped because an application filter module <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft ISA Server\LinkTranslation.dll generated an exception code C0000005 in address 6148FB26 when function CompleteAsyncIO was called. To resolve this error, remove recently installed application filters and restart the service.

Cause

This problem occurs because of the memory corruption in the link translation data structures.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, install the hotfix rollup package that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
