Introduction

Windows Server 2008 R2 Beta

This is a test update of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Beta. The update will not fix any technical issue. It is for testing only.

Note This update enables us to test and verify our ability to deliver and manage the updating of Windows Server 2008 R2. We typically verify servicing scenarios during a beta version.

Windows Server 2008 R2 Beta users were notified that new updates are available on February 24, 2009 from Windows Update. Even if the user has Windows Update configured for automatic update, these test updates will not install automatically. Users will have to manually install the test updates through Windows Update.

These updates do not deliver new features or hotfixes. The test updates only replace system files with the same file that is currently on the system but with an updated version number.

Windows Server 2008 R2 Release Candidate

This is a test update of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Release Candidate (RC). The update will not fix any technical issue, and it is only for test purposes.

Note This update lets us test and verify our ability to deliver and manage the updating of Windows Server 2008 R2. We typically verify servicing scenarios during a beta release.

These updates do not deliver new features or hotfixes. Test updates only replace system files with the same file that is currently on the system but with an updated version number.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
