Error message when you open a Microsoft Office Word document on a computer that has BCLEasyPDF for Microsoft FRx WebPort installed: “A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp"


Symptoms

When you open a Word document on a computer that has BCLEasyPDF for FRx WebPort installed, you receive the following error message.


A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file.

Cause

When the BCLEasyPDF component is installed, a .dot template file is put in the Microsoft Office startup directory. The error occurs because Word tries to use the .dot file that was installed by BCLEasyPDF and the certificate cannot be validated.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, delete the BCLEasyPDF.dot file from the C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\OfficeXX\\Startup directory, where XX signifies the Office version installed on the workstation.
