Error message when you try to start the Microsoft Forecaster Web site: "IIS was unable to start the site. Another site may be using the port you configured for this site. Please select an unused port."

Symptoms

When the system administrator tries to start the Microsoft Forecaster Web site from IIS, they receive the following error message:
IIS was unable to start the site. Another site may be using the port you configured for this site. Please select an unused port.

Cause

IIS encountered a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) port conflict.

Resolution

The System Administrator must confirm that the Microsoft Forecaster Web site is using SSL port number 443 and that other Web sites on the same server are not using the same port.

To confirm other sites are not using the same SSL port, follow these steps:
  1. Start IIS from the Web server where the Microsoft Forecaster Web site resides.
  2. Expand all Web sites in the navigation pane.
  3. Right-click the Microsoft Forecaster Web site and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Web site tab and locate the SSL port value. Confirm that the port value is 443.
Please repeat steps 1 - 4 for any remaining web sites.
