Symptoms

When the "Devices: Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged on users only" local security policy is enabled on a Windows Server 2003-based computer, and you start Ntbackup, the Removable Storage service may log an error entry in the System log that resembles the following:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Removable Storage Service
Event Category: None
Event ID: 15
Description:
RSM cannot manage library CDROM0. The database is corrupt.

Resolution

The Removable Storage service's access to the CD drive is restricted because of the security policy and therefore logs the error message. The Removable Storage database is not corrupted, and you can safely ignore this message.
