FIX: Error message when you try to display a report in SQL Server 2008 Management Studio: "System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array"

Bug #: 50003629 (SQL Hotfix)

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release.

Symptoms

When you try to display a report in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Studio, you may receive the following error message:
System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

Cause

SQL Server 2008 Management Studio uses the ReportViewer control to display reports. This problem occurs because the ReportViewer control is not thread-safe. This causes an index outside the bounds of the array, and a NULL object is referenced.
