More information about this hotfix
This hotfix introduces additional functionality by enabling you to use the objectGUID attribute to restore objects. If you want to successfully restore objects that contain non-standard DNs, you must use the objectGUID attribute to restore these objects.
To use the objectGUID attribute to restore an object, follow these steps:
- At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
Repadmin /options serverName:port+DISABLE_INBOUND_REPLICATION - In the Services snap-in, stop the service for the ADAM instance that contains the object.
- Restore the database of the ADAM instance.
For example, you can use the NTBackup.exe utility to perform the backup operation. - Start the service for the ADAM instance.
- Use the Ldp.exe utility to bind to the ADAM instance.
For more information about how to use the Ldp.exe utility, visit the following Microsoft TechNet Web site: - Locate the object that you want to restore and copy the objectGUID attribute of the object.
- Stop the service for the ADAM instance again.
- Use the Dsdbutil.exe utility to restore the object. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type %Windir%\ADAM\Dsdbutil, and then click OK.
- At the Dsdbutil.exe: prompt, type activate instance ADAMinstanceName, and then press ENTER.
- Type authoritative restore, and then press ENTER.
- Type restore object <GUID=objectGUID>, and then press ENTER.
Note In this step, objectGUID represents the objectGUID attribute of the object that you copied in step 6. For example, <GUID=1212-1211-1212121-121212>
indicates that 1212-1211-1212121-121212 is the objectGUID.
- Start the service for the ADAM instance.
- At a command prompt, run the following command, and then press ENTER:
Repadmin /options serverName:port -DISABLE_INBOUND_REPLICATION
