Event ID 2091 is logged when a public folder is replicated between Exchange Server 2003 servers

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

In an Exchange 2003 environment, public folder replications occur between Exchange servers. Several posted messages may be contained within the same replication message and may be sent from source server to the target server. In certain scenarios, this replication message is dropped on the target server, and none of the posted messages is replicated successfully. When this problem occurs, the following event is logged on the target server:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeIS Public Store
Event Category: Transport Delivering
Event ID: 2091
Description: A message deliver to public folder store "<Storage Group>\<Public Folder Store>" with message class IPM.POST is being dropped.

Cause

This problem occurs if one of the posted messages of the same replication message includes uncompressed Rich Text Format (RTF) body in the PR_RTF_COMPRESSED property. When Exchange Server processes the replication message, it detects the incorrect data in the PR_RTF_COMPRESSED property in the posted message. Then, the Exchange server discards the whole replication message.
