Stop error when an application calls the SystemParametersInfo function on a Windows Server 2003-based computer: "0x00000050"

A computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Server 2003 may restart automatically. Additionally, you receive the following Stop error code: This issue occurs when an application calls the SystemParametersInfo function and sets the value of the uiAction parameter to SPI_SETDESKPATTERN or to SPI_SETDESKWALLPAPER.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
