Clients cannot log on to a Windows Server 2008-based terminal server through RDP connections if the terminal server is set to listen on only one of the network adapters

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

On a Windows Server 2008-based terminal server that has multiple network adapters installed, you use the Terminal Service Configuration console to configure the RDP - Tcp connection to listen on one of the network adapters instead of listening to all network adapters installed on the server. After you restart the terminal server, you will find that clients cannot log on to the terminal server through remote desktop protocol (RDP) connections.

Note By default, the Network adapter field is set to All network adapters configured with this protocol. This means the default behavior is to listen on all the network adapters that are installed on the server.
