An update is available to update the Slovak koruna currency symbol (Sk) to the Euro currency symbol (�) and to update the Turkish currency symbol from Yeni T�rk Lirasi (YTL) to T�rk Lirasi (TL)

Symptoms

This update updates the Slovak currency symbol from the Slovak koruna (Sk) to the Euro currency symbol (�). Additionally, this update updates the Turkish currency symbol from Yeni T�rk Lirasi (YTL) to T�rk Lirasi (TL).
  • The Slovak government officially changes from the current Slovak koruna to the Euro currency symbol (�) on January 1, 2009.
  • The Turkish government officially changes from the current Yeni T�rk Lirasi (YTL) to the T�rk Lirasi (TL) on January 1, 2009.
This update updates the currency symbol as soon as the update is installed.

Note This update also includes changes for the Maltese currency symbol that changed to the Euro currency symbol (�) on January 1, 2008 and for the Slovenia currency symbol that changed to the Euro currency symbol (�) on January 1, 2007.

Known issue for this update

This update does not work as intended for roaming profile users. To work around this issue, follow these steps on the server.

Important Roaming profile users should not log on the server before you perform the following steps on the server.
  1. Load the registry hive for a roaming profile user. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.
    2. In Registry Editor, click HKEY_USERS.
    3. On the File menu, click Load Hive.
    4. In the Load Hive dialog box, locate the profile folder for a roaming profile user.
    5. Click the Ntuser.dat file, and then click Open.
    6. Under Key Name, type a name, and then click OK.
  2. Delete the sCurrency registry entry for the roaming profile user.
    1. In Registry Editor, locate the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_USERS\<Name>\Control Panel\International
      Note The Name placeholder is the name that you typed in step 1f.
    2. Delete the Currency registry entry.
  3. Unload the registry hive for the roaming profile user. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click the HKEY_USERS\<Name> registry key.
    2. On the File menu, click Unload Hive.
    3. In the Confirm Unload Hive message box, click Yes.
  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for other roaming profile users.

How to manually change the currency symbol for Slovak and for Turkish

Use the following methods to manually change the currency symbols for Slovak and Turkish.

Notes
  • If you already changed these settings for both the Malta currency symbol and for the Slovenia currency symbol, you do not have to apply the change that is described in the following methods.
  • The update that is described in the "Resolution" section removes the earlier currency symbol from the Currency symbol list in Regional and Language Options.
    • If you want to use the earlier Slovak currency symbol, you can manually type Sk in the Currency symbol list to add the earlier currency symbol.
    • If you want to use the earlier Turkish currency symbol, you can manually type YTL in the Currency symbol list to add the earlier currency symbol.
    • If you want to use the earlier Slovenia currency symbol, you can manually type SIT in the Currency symbol list to add the earlier currency symbol.

    • If you want to use the earlier Malta currency symbol, you can manually type Lm in the Currency symbol list to add the earlier currency symbol.
