After you eject and re-insert a recordable CD (CD-R) in a drive, Windows Vista no longer finds some files on the CD

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you use Windows Vista to write files to a recordable CD (CD-R), the operation succeeds without any error message, and the files on the CD can be explored and opened correctly. However, after you eject and then re-insert the CD in a drive, some files are no longer found.

Notes
  • This problem occurs only when you write some files that have a special file size to the CD.
  • This problem does not occur when you use other media, such as a CD-RW, a DVD-R, or a DVD-RW.
