Error code 0x8004240f occurs when you use a volume that is larger than 2 TB as backup storage in Windows Server 2008

In Windows Server 2008, when you use a volume that is larger than 2 terabytes (TB) for backup storage, Windows Server Backup fails and you receive the following Error code:

This issue occurs because Windows Server Backup always initializes disks by using a master boot record (MBR).

This issue is fixed in Windows 2008 Service Pack 2.

To work around this problem, re-create the backup storage volume to be less than 2TB.
