Consider the following scenario.� You run Windows 2000 as a Guest Operating System in a virtual machine on Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V, and install the Integration Services in the Guest Operating System.

Result

You may experience shut down times of five minutes or more.� Also, you may see the following in the System Event Log:

Cause

The Integration Service drivers cause I/O Request Packets (IRPs) to be orphaned, which time out after five minutes.� Shut down should continue normally after the IRPs have been retired.

Resolution



Disabling the WMI service or not installing the Integration Services should resolve the issue.

Alternatively, you can wait for the shut down to complete; this may take five minutes or more.
