Stop error message if you use two USB streaming-video cameras at the same time on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008: "Stop error code 0x0000000A"

Symptoms

If you use two universal serial bus (USB) streaming-video cameras at the same time on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, you receive the following Stop error message:
STOP 0x0000000A (Parameter1, Parameter2, Parameter3, Parameter4)
This problem occurs when the video capture program restarts.

Cause

This problem occurs if the camera devices use the Usbcamd2.sys driver to provide full streaming-video camera support. This problem occurs because of a race condition in the Usbcamd2.sys driver.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
