You find that the Drive Maps node is still available even though you disable it by using Group Policy

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • In a Windows Server 2008 domain, you set the Drive Maps (GPOE) policy to "Disabled" in the Group Policy object (GPO) that is located in the following path:
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Microsoft Management Console\ Restricted/Permitted snap-ins\Group Policy\Preferences
  • You link this GPO to an Organization Unit (OU) so that the users in this OU can apply the policy.
  • You log on by using an account that is in the OU to edit a Group Policy Object.
In this scenario, you find that the Drive Maps node is still available in the Windows Settings section. However, it should be disabled.

Note To find the Windows Settings section, click User Configuration, and then click Preferences.
