Data Protection Manager 2007 SP1 provides the following improvements for protecting Microsoft applications and the following resolutions for resolving problems that you might encounter when you use Data Protection Manager 2007 to protect data sources:
  • Data Protection Manager 2007 SP1 is built by using an updated version of the Windows Software Development Kit (SDK). This means that Data Protection Manager binaries are created by using libraries that include all security fixes in the updated SDK.
  • You can now seamlessly install protection agents on domain controllers.
  • There are significant improvements in recovery time for Exchange Server and SQL Server data. For example, when data is recovered from a recovery point that includes as many as 100 incremental recovery points, the recovery time improves by 300 percent.
  • Error messages that are related to the prerequisites for protecting data sources are more usable.
  • Consistency checks for Windows SharePoint Server farms are faster.

Note Data Protection Manager 2007 SP1 re-validates only those parts of a Windows SharePoint Services replica for which data backup is inconsistent.
  • Data Protection Manager 2007 SP1 includes significant improvements for setting up your Data Protection Manager disaster recovery configuration.
