A hotfix is available to resolve this problem. After you apply this hotfix, you have to change the registry to enable the hotfix. For more information, see the "Registry Information" section.
After you enable this hotfix, you see the following changes:
- If you copy an encrypted file to a WebDAV share folder that is not encrypted, you are prompted that the encryption on the file will be removed if you continue with the file copy operation.
- You cannot encrypt a file or a folder in a WebDAV share folder. This change is made by hiding the Advanced tab on the Properties page of a file or of a folder.
Note This change only applies to WebDAV share locations. - If you copy an encrypted file to an encrypted folder on the WebDAV share folder, or if you overwrite an existing encrypted file on the WebDAV share folder, the file remains encrypted.

To apply the Windows XP-based hotfix you must have Windows XP SP2 or Windows XP SP3 installed on the computer. To enable this hotfix, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then press ENTER.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MrxDAV\Parameters\
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type DisableEFSOnWebDav to name the entry. Then, press ENTER.
- On the Edit menu, click Modify, type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
