The WINS MMC snap-in stops responding when you try to stop, start, or restart the WINS service in the WINS MMC snap-in on a clustered WINS server instance in Windows Server 2003

Symptoms

On a clustered Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) server instance, you try to stop, start, or restart the WINS service in the WINS Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in. In this case, the service is stopped, started, or restarted correctly. However, the WINS MMC snap-in stops responding, and you receive the following error message:

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
