Vertical text in a text box that is converted to a frame may be misaligned or missing when the text is printed from Word 2007, or the text is viewed in a published PDF or XPS file

Symptoms

You insert vertical text in a text box, and then you convert the text box to a frame in Microsoft Office Word 2007. When you print the document or when you view the published PDF or XPS file, the text in the frame may not be displayed the same as in Word 2007 or in Print Preview. For example, some text in the frame may be misaligned or may be missing.

Note This issue may also occur in older Word documents in which the author used legacy frames.

Workaround

To work around this issue, do not convert the text box to a frame. Instead, keep the vertical text direction text in a text box.
