View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you are running a Windows Server 2008-based computer that has the Hyper-V role installed, the computer may restart unexpectedly. Then, you may receive the following Stop error message:
STOP 0x0000001A (parameter1,
parameter2, parameter3,
parameter4)
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
This problem occurs occasionally. However, the probability that you will encounter this problem depends on your actual configuration. For example, this problem is more likely to occur in certain Hyper-V failover cluster scenarios. However, this problem is not exclusive to cluster scenarios.

Cause

This problem occurs when a Hyper-V component (Vid.sys) incorrectly unmaps some pages in the address space for the system process even though these pages were not mapped. This behavior corrupts the address space for the system process. When other programs or services try to access the corrupted address space, a Stop error is triggered.
