FIX: After you install a non-English version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1, some localized IntelliSense text may revert to English

Symptoms

After you install a non-English version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1), some localized IntelliSense text may revert to English. This problem occurs in the following language versions of Visual Studio 2008 SP1:
  • Chinese (simplified)
  • Chinese (traditional)
  • German
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. You must have Visual Studio 2008 SP1 or Visual Studio 2008 Express Editions with SP1 installed before you apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

To install the hotfix, follow these steps:
  1. Visit the following Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site:
    http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB957507
  2. On the Download tab, click VS90SP1-KB 957507-x86.exe
  3. In the To download the file you must agree to the following license dialog box, click I Agree.
  4. In the File Download dialog box, click Run.
  5. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
