The WSD scanner submission that runs the Windows Logo Program testing may fail on a Windows Vista-based and Windows Server 2008-based computer

Symptoms

Considering the following scenario:
  • You are running a Windows Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based computer that has a Web Services for Devices (WSD) scanner that is installed.
  • You create a scanner submission by using the Driver Test Manager tool to run Windows Logo Program testing on the computer.
In this scenario, the submission may fail, and the image is never scanned.

Cause

This problem is caused when a parameter is not handled correctly in the WSD scan driver. However, smart error handling is required by the Windows Logo Program test for the driver, even if the problem arises because a parameter is not handled correctly.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
