Reminders for meeting requests reappear in Outlook after users synchronize meeting requests by using a mobile device and Exchange ActiveSync in Exchange Server 2003

Symptoms

Users dismiss reminders for meeting requests in Microsoft Office Outlook. Then, they synchronize the meeting requests by using a mobile device and Exchange ActiveSync. When they use Outlook after they synchronize the meeting requests, the reminders reappear.

Cause

When mobile device users synchronize their calendar after they dismiss reminders in Outlook, the reminder property of the Calendar items on the Server is set to a value. This causes the reminders to reappear in Outlook.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Prerequisites

This hotfix requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 to be installed on the server because of file dependencies.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the following services are restarted automatically when you apply this hotfix:
  • The Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service
  • The Microsoft Search service
  • The Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin Service and all dependent services
