An application that calls the Image Color Management (ICM) functions in the Icm32.dll module may crash on a Windows Server 2003-based computer

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • On a Windows Server 2003-based computer, an application uses the Image Color Management (ICM) functions in the Icm32.dll file to print some images to a printer.
  • A customized ICM profile is configured on the printer.
In this scenario, the application may exit unexpectedly or crash.

Cause

This issue may occur because a floating-point "divide by zero" exception is triggered in the Icm32.dll module.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
