FIX: The access rule for a URL set does not work as expected in ISA Server 2006 with Service Pack 1 if the URL set contains adjacent IP addresses as the hosts

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • In Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), you create a URL set.
  • Some URLs that are included in this URL set contain adjacent IP addresses as the hosts. For example, the URL set contains the following URLs:
    • http://10.0.0.1/*
    • http://192.168.0.1/*
    • http://192.168.0.2/*
  • You create an access rule for this URL set. For example, the access rule allows a client to access the URL set.
In this scenario, the access rule for this URL set does not work as expected. In the example that is mentioned here, the access rule does not take effect when the client tries to access any of these three URLs.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, apply the hotfix that is mentioned in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
