Error message when you try to open multiple instances of the InfoPath form concurrently with different input parameters

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create an InfoPath form template that contains an input parameter.
  • You publish the InfoPath form template to a content library of a SharePoint site.
In this scenario, when you try to open multiple instances of the InfoPath form concurrently with different input parameters, you may receive the following error message:
InfoPath cannot open the form because another version of the form template is currently open. Close all forms using the form template and try again.

To resolve this problem, apply hotfix 953920, and then set the InputParametersOpenMultipleForms registry entry to enable the hotfix. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Apply hotfix 953920.

  2. Set the InputParametersOpenMultipleForms registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\InfoPath\EditorCommon
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4. Type InputParametersOpenMultipleForms, and then press ENTER.
    5. Right-click InputParametersOpenMultipleForms, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
