Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have the German edition of Windows Server 2008 German installed on a computer.
  • You open the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in and select a user.
  • You right-click the user and then click Properties.
In this scenario, the following check box appears at the bottom of the Terminal Services Profile tab:
terminalserveranmeldung zulassen
If you translate the previous German sentence to English, the sentence means the user can log on to the Terminal server. However, in the English edition of Windows Server 2008, a Deny the user permissions to log on to Terminal Server check box appears instead. Additionally, the Help file in the German edition of Windows Server 2008 contains the wrong explanation.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a translation issue. Because of this translation issue, the meaning of the check box in the German edition of Windows Server 2008 is the opposite than the meaning of the check box in the English edition of Windows Server 2008.
