FIX: The BizTalk Server native EDI functionality swaps the GS02 field and the GS03 field in BizTalk Server 2006 R2

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2, you configure the BizTalk Server native Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) functionality to receive 997 functional acknowledgements from a trading partner. However, when a functional acknowledgement is received from a trading partner, the BizTalk native EDI functionality swaps the code field of the sender (GS02) and the code field of the receiver (GS03).

Note This problem also occurs with generated 997 technical acknowledgements when the 997 technical acknowledgements are batched by using the BizTalk Server 2006 R2 batching functionality.

Hotfix information

Prerequisites

You must have BizTalk Server 2006 R2 and the BizTalk EDI/AS2 Runtime installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must restart the BizTalk Server services after you apply this hotfix.

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.

File information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This hotfix guarantees that the GS02 and GS03 fields are preserved correctly on incoming 997 functional acknowledgements. Additionally, those fields are set correctly on outgoing 997 functional acknowledgements. If you have already built applications that use the GS02 and GS03 fields for incoming 997 functional acknowledgements in reverse, apply this hotfix only after you remove that logic.
