FIX: A catalog XML file that contains only the product relationships takes a long time to import into a Commerce Server 2007 site

Symptoms

In Microsoft Commerce Server 2007, you create a catalog XML file that contains only the product relationships. When you import the catalog XML file into a Commerce Server 2007 site, the catalog XML file takes a long time to import.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Relationships table requires an additional index that is missing in the existing product catalog database.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Commerce Server 2007 service pack that contains this hotfix.

This hotfix contains an SQL script (AddIndexes.sql) that you must run against the existing product catalog databases to add the index. This hotfix also updates the CatalogCreate.sql file to make sure that new product catalog resources contain the index. Make sure that the version of the CatalogCreate.sql file is build 6.0.4109.3. You can find the version at the beginning of the CatalogCreate.sql file.
