How to create security tasks and security roles in Extender in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0

To create security tasks and security roles for a window, for an Inquiries object, or for a Notes object in Extender in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, follow these steps.

Note These steps use a window as an example. However, the same steps apply to an Inquiries object or to a Notes object.

Pre Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Service Pack 4

1. Click Tools, click Extender two times, and then select the Extender window that you want.
   
2. In the upper-right corner of the Extender window, click the Go To button, and then click Add To Security Tasks.
3. Click Add to New Task. By default, the ID field contains the Extender window ID.
4. Click Category, and then select the appropriate category value.
5. Click the security role to which you want to grant access.
6. Save the security task.
   
7. In the Extender window, click the Extender window ID, and then switch to the Add To Security Tasks window. The security task that you set appears in this window.
8. Click to select the Task ID check box.
   
9. Click Tools, click Setup, click System, and then click Security Tasks.
   
10. Select the Task ID of the security task for which you want to view Extender resources.
    
11. Click Additional, and then click Extender to open the Extender Tasks window.
    
12. Click the Extender resource that you want to view.

For an Extender Notes object, follow these additional steps.



Note When you follow these steps, you see notes. However, you cannot add new notes without the correct security settings.

1. Click Tools, click Setup, click System, and then click Security Task.
2. Create a new task that is named "Extender."
   
3. Select the Project series, and then click Mark All.
   
4. Select the System series, and then click Mark All.
   
5. Save the "Extender" security task.
   
   
6. Click Tools, click Setup, click System, and then click Security Roles.
7. Assign the "Extender" security task to a role to which the user is assigned.
   
8. Save the role.

Post Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Service Pack 4

Extender security is now integrated with Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Service Pack 4. In the upper-right corner of the Extender window, the Go To button no longer exists.
Note Re-save existing Extender Windows if you do not see them in the Access List for Security Tasks.

1. Click Tools, click Setup, click System, and then click Security Task.
2. Create a new task that is named Extender.
3. Select the Extender product.
4. Select the Extender Resources type.
5. Select the Extender Resource type that you want to grant security to.
6. Save the Extender security task.
   
7. Click Tools, click Setup, click System, and then click Security Roles.
   
8. Assign the Extender security task to a role to which the user is assigned.
   
9. Save the role.
