List of the MS DTC bugs that are fixed in Windows Server 2003 MS DTC Hotfix Rollup Package 14

This article lists the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) bugs that are fixed in Windows Server 2003 MS DTC Hotfix Rollup Package 14. Each hotfix rollup package contains all the fixes that were released in the previous Windows Server 2003 MS DTC hotfix rollup package.

Issues that are fixed in this hotfix rollup package

This hotfix rollup package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

• Consider the following scenario. You use an XA-based resource manager to handle recovery operations. The client library uses the MS DTC single-pipe model. In this scenario, the recovery operations may cause a memory leak in the MS DTC service. If the recovery operations are performed frequently enough, the MS DTC service eventually consumes lots of memory.
• You use the ITipTransaction interface and the ITipHelper interface to propagate transactions by using the Transaction IP (TIP) protocol. When you do this, a memory leak in the MS DTC service may occur together with each transaction propagation. The MS DTC service eventually consumes lots of memory. This issue may also occur when you use an XA-based resource manager.

Hotfix rollup package information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
