When you call the "IVssBackupComponents::SetFileRestoreStatus" method by specifying the value of the status parameter as VSS_RS_FAILED, the restore status is set incorrectly on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 SP1 or SP2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • On a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you call the IVssBackupComponents::SetFileRestoreStatus method.
  • You do this by specifying VSS_RS_FAILED as the value of the status parameter.
In this scenario, the restore status is set incorrectly. Additionally, the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) may be unable to recognize the restore status. Therefore, file corruption may occur.
