View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

You have a Windows Server 2003-based computer that includes a quad-core CPU. You install Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Standard Edition on the computer. When you try to run a Commerce Web site on the computer, you receive the following error message:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Commerce Server 2002
Event Category: None
Event ID: 36865
Description:
Error in Commerce Administration Object : Description - 'GlobalConfig:Initialize : Configuration object failed to initialize because Commerce Server Standard Edition supports a maximum of two processors (CPUs).'

Cause

This problem occurs because Commerce Server 2002 Standard Edition only supports two processors. On a Windows Server 2003-based computer that has a quad-core CPU, the Cs45_ca.dll component of Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Standard Edition counts the number of processors as four. This number exceeds the maximum of processors that Commerce Server 2002 Standard Edition supports. Therefore, you receive an error message.
