The Outlook Add-in for Project Server 2007 no longer loads when you uninstall and then reinstall the add-in

Symptoms

You uninstall and then reinstall the Microsoft Outlook Add-in for Microsoft Office Project Server 2007. When you do this, the add-in no longer loads.

Additionally, if you previously imported tasks, you receive the following error message when you view the tasks:
The Outlook Add-In is not installed. Please install if from Project Web Access. Form is inactive.

Cause

This problem occurs because Outlook sometimes loses the link to the Mpsintegration12.dll COM add-in or to the Mpsaddin.dll COM add-in.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, follow these steps.

Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
  3. Click COM Add-Ins.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Locate the following directory:
    DriveLetter:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11
  6. Click Mpsaddin.dll, and then click Open.
  7. Click OK.

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

  1. Click Tools, and then click Trust Center.
  2. Click Add-Ins.
  3. In the Manage list, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
  4. Locate the following directory:
    DriveLetter:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
  5. Click Mpsintegration12.dll, and then click Add.
