View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

You may receive the following error message when you try to run the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2006 Configuration Tool (Configuration.exe) after you apply a Host Integration Server 2006 hotfix to correct an unrelated problem:
Failed to create object for feature: SecurityFeature
This problem occurs only when Host Integration Server 2006 was not installed in the default location. The default installation location for Host Integration Server 2006 is the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server 2006 folder.

The following are other symptoms that have been reported when this problem occurs:
  • The SnaBase service may not start.
  • The Host Integration Server 2006 registry key that contains the Host Integration Server installation location is modified to use the default installation location instead of the actual installation location.

Cause

This problem occurs because the hotfix installer that is used to install Host Integration Server 2006 hotfixes incorrectly resets the installation path to the default Host Integration Server 2006 installation path.
