Access violation in the "snaipdlc!nba_use_prereserved_buffer" function when a computer that is running Host Integration Server 2006 uses the IP-DLC link service to communicate with an IBM mainframe

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Microsoft Host Integration Server 2006.
  • This computer uses the IP-DLC link service to communicate with an IBM mainframe.
In this scenario, you may experience an access violation in the snaipdlc!nba_use_prereserved_buffer function. When this problem occurs, the IP-DLC link service closes unexpectedly. Therefore, all connected users lose their existing host sessions if the host sessions were established over host connections or over peer connections through the IP-DLC link service.

This problem is most likely to occur under the following circumstances:
  • The Host Integration Server configuration includes several thousand dependent LUs that are defined on host connections by using the IP-DLC link service.
  • The Host Integration Server systems have been running for a long time since they were last restarted.

Note The issue may also occur on Host Integration Server 2004 and Host Integration Server 2004 Service Pack 1 (SP1) systems.
