Introduction

A hotfix is available for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 that enables support for AS2 File name preservation. AS2 File name preservation enables the retrieval of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) business document that is wrapped in MIME. After you apply this hotfix, the recipient of the AS2 message can retrieve the filename of the EDI business document that is wrapped in MIME. Then, the recipient of the AS2 message can transfer the received file to the back-end system by using the received filename.

To support File name preservation for AS2 messages, two new context properties are added. They are the PreservedFileName property of the EdiIntProperties namespace and the ReceivedFileName property of the FILE adapter namespace.

The PreservedFileName property contains the original file name of the message. This context property is populated only when the incoming message includes the file name information as part of the Content-Disposition MIME header.

ReceivedFileName is a property that is promoted by the FILE receive port. That is, the name of the file that is received by the BizTalk Server through the FILE receive port is transmitted across the wire in MIME headers. This property supports an End-to-End scenario. For example, when the file is dropped in the file location on the sender side, the file is then copied to the location on the receiver side.

For more information about how to process an incoming AS2 message in BizTalk Server 2006 R2, visit the following Microsoft Developer Network(MSDN) Web site: For more information about the AS2 context properties, visit the following Microsoft Developer Network(MSDN) Web sites:
