The Language bar is not docked to the taskbar after you connect to a remote localized version of Windows Server 2008

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You use the Start the following program on connection option on the Remote Desktop Connection client to start a program immediately after you connect to a remote localized version of a Windows Server 2008-based computer that is running Terminal Services. After you connect to the Windows Server 2008-based computer, you see that the input method editor (IME)-enabled Language bar floats in the remote desktop window. In this scenario, when you enable the Docked in the taskbar option from the Language bar settings in the remote desktop window, the Language bar is not docked to the taskbar. Additionally, the taskbar itself does not appear in the remote desktop window.

Note To use the Start the following program on connection option, start Remote Desktop Connection, click Options, click the Programs tab, and then click to select the Start the following program on connection check box.

Workaround

To work around this issue, publish the program as a Terminal Services RemoteApp (TS RemoteApp) program. The Docked in the Taskbar option in the IME-enabled Language bar is disabled in remote application mode, and the Language bar will always float in the remote desktop window.
