You cannot move cluster resources back to the original node on a Windows Server 2003 cluster node that has UMPD driver from Unisys installed

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • The multipath software (UMPD) driver from Unisys are installed on a Windows Server 2003 cluster node.
  • All fibre cables are disconnected from this node and all resources are moved to another node.
  • All fibre cables are reconnected.
  • You try to move cluster resources back to the original node.
In this scenario, Cluster resources cannot be moved back to the original node. The process stops at "pending" status.

Additionally, you cannot shut down this node successfully. You have to manually turn off the computer.
