Cause

This problem occurs because the Setup program of Microsoft Dynamics CRM must install the Visual C++ runtime components, even if the components are already installed.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

If the computer has an Internet connection, you can safely ignore the message. The Setup program of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 automatically downloads and installs the Visual C++ runtime components.

Method 2

If you must install Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Data Connector, and E-mail Router on a computer that does not have an Internet connection, follow these steps.

How to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook

  1. On another computer that has an Internet connection, create a folder that is named ClientInstall.
  2. Download the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 client installation files. If you are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 On-Premise, download the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 for Microsoft Office Outlook installation files for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Online. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
  3. Extract the install files into a folder that is named client, and then put this folder inside the folder that you created in step 1.
  4. Download the "Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable" package from the Microsoft download center. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Visit the following Microsoft Web site, and then search for "Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable:"
    2. Download the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version of the "Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable" package that matches the client operating system.
Note You can also obtain the "Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable" package from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installation DVD.

  5. Create the following folder structure in the folder that you created in step 1:
    \Redist\i386\VcRedist
Note You cannot ignore this step because the Setup program of the "Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable" package cannot detect the installed state.

  6. Put the files that you downloaded in step 4 into the folder that you created in step 5. You can now either burn the folder that you created in step 1 to a CD, or you can put the folder on a network share that users can access.
