Stop error when you try to hibernate or to resume a Windows Server 2008-based computer or a Windows Vista-based computer after you run the "Common Scenario Stress with IO" test: "0x0000000A"

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You run the "Common Scenario Stress with IO" test in Driver Test Manager (DTM) on a Windows Server 2008-based computer or a Windows Vista-based computer.
  • Then, you try to hibernate the computer. Or, you try to resume the computer after you have successfully hibernated it.
In this scenario, you receive a Stop error message that resembles the following:
*** STOP: 0x0000000A ( parameter1 , parameter2 , parameter3 , parameter4 )

Note
  • The parameters in the Stop error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer and on the issue type.
  • Not all "0x0000000A" Stop errors are caused by this problem.

The issue occurs because of a bug in the Pci.sys file.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
