Event ID 15016 appears in the System log after you install Windows Vista SP1 in a workgroup

Symptoms

You perform an installation of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) in a workgroup. Then, you receive an error message in the System log that resembles the following:

Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
Description: Unable to initialize the security package Kerberos for server side authentication. The data field contains the error number.


When you click the Details tab in the error message, and you select the XML view, you see the following event error message:

Cause

This event occurs because you are using a Windows Vista configuration that does not have and that does not require a security package for HTTP service authentication.
