Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You install Enterprise Portal in Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 on a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 and Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. Then, you run the Enterprise Portal Configuration Wizard or the Enterprise Portal Deployment Wizard. In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Error Message: Clr object is not initialized.
Error Message: Object 'CLRObject' could not be created.
This problem occurs if you install Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 before you install Windows SharePoint Services.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Ax32.exe.config file does not exist in the Bin folder. If you install Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 before you install Windows SharePoint Services, the Ax32.exe.config file is not copied to the Bin folder.

Note By default, the Bin folder is located in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\40\Client

Resolution

To resolve this problem, copy the Ax32.exe.config file from the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 installation disc to the Bin folder.


Note On the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 installation disc, the Ax32.exe.config file is located in the following folder:
\Msi\Client\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\4.0\Client\Bin
