FIX: You cannot consume a Web service in BizTalk Server 2006 if the WSDL file of the Web service references another WSDL file

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006:
  • You use Microsoft Visual Studio to develop a BizTalk project.
  • You try to consume a Web service in the BizTalk project by adding a Web reference.
  • The Web Services Description Language (WSDL) file of the Web service references another WSDL file.
In this scenario, you cannot add the Web reference successfully. Therefore, you cannot consume the Web service. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

This problem occurs because of an error in the BizTalk orchestration designer.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
