FIX: Error message when you use the Commerce Server 2007 order adapter to process an order: "String was not recognized as a valid DateTime"

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You use the Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 order adapter as a receive port in Microsoft BizTalk Server. On the server that is running BizTalk Server, the Formats setting in Regional and Language Options dialog box is set to a format other than English (United States). You process an order. In this scenario, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Commerce Server Orders Receive Adapter
Event Category: None
Event ID: 0
Description:
Failed submitting message to BizTalk. Message: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.
Stack trace:
at System.DateTimeParse.Parse(String s, DateTimeFormatInfo dtfi, DateTimeStyles styles)
at System.DateTime.Parse(String s, IFormatProvider provider)
at Microsoft.CommerceServer.Adapter.Orders.OrdersReceiveEndpoint.get_TimeWindow ()
at Microsoft.CommerceServer.Adapter.Orders.OrdersReceiveEndpoint.SubmitBatch(). Failed submitting message to BizTalk. Message: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.

Note This problem may also occur if the Formats setting of the user account that is configured for the BizTalk Server service is set to a format other than English (United States).

Cause

This problem occurs because, when the "DateTime of Query Window" registry entry is reset, a value of the DateTime data type is formatted by using the English (United States) format setting. However, the configured format setting should be used. The "DateTime of Query Window" registry entry is located under the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Commerce Server 2007 BizTalk Adapters
For example, you set the Formats setting in the Regional and Language Options dialog box to English (United Kingdom). The Commerce Server 2007 order adapter incorrectly interprets the date string "01/06/2008" as "1st. June 2008."
